Tour Plan
Day 1: Marrakech
Welcome to Marrakech! After self-transferring or taking a shuttle to your hotel, you’ll have the day free to explore this vibrant city on your own. Overnight in a charming Riad.
Day 2: Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Nkob
Today, we’ll begin our adventure as we travel west into the desert to arrive at Nkob, flanked by the Saghrou Mountains.
Day 3: Nkob - Merzouga
Today, we’ll enjoy Nkob and have free time to explore the town and surrounding desert. In the late afternoon, set off by camel to a desert camp deep in the dunes. Along the way, you’ll learn to tie a turban to keep the desert sun off your face and add a little flair to photos.
Enjoy a warm welcome with mint tea upon arrival. We’ll enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars, cooked by our hosts. In the evening, listen to stories about life in this region and, perhaps, some traditional music on the drums (Berber music around the fire).
Day 4: Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Tinghir
We’ll depart early from the camp and head out to the town of Tinghir and go for a walk through the picturesque palm groves. Then, we’ll head to the breathtaking Todra Gorge to spend the night nestled between the sheer cliff walls among the palm trees and gurgling river. This serene spot is great for hiking, relaxing on the edge of the river, or sampling some local Berber delicacies.

Day 5: Tinghir - Ait Benhadou
Today, we’ll travel along the “Route of 1000 Kasbahs” to the thriving town of Ouarzazate for a lunch stop. This town is home to Atlas Film Studios, where many films have been shot over the years, including “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Gladiator.”
Continue on to the fascinating and beautiful Ait Ben Haddou, a wonderful example of a kasbah. Here, we’ll take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Of all the remaining Kasbahs in Morocco, the walls and interior of this area are the most intact. The Kasbah still houses a few families, but many now live in the adjacent village. Like many of the earthen-built fortresses in Ouarzazate, Aït Ben Haddou has been used in many film and television productions, including “Gladiator,” “Babel,” and “Game of Thrones.”

Day 6: Ait Benhadou - Essaouira
Enough of the desert; let’s enjoy the great beaches of Morocco. We’ll depart Ait Benhaddou and travel to Essaouira, where we’ll take in the laid-back vibe of this coastal town on an orientation walk.

Day 7: Essaouira - Free Day in Town
Today, you’ll be free to explore on your own.
In the morning, don’t miss the colorful and lively spectacle of the return of the boats to the port, with their baskets full of fish. Afterwards, head up to the ramparts on the old city wall for a great view over the city and out to sea. Browse the shops and art galleries or take a stroll along the long, sandy beach. This is the perfect place to unwind and relax with a cold beer or shisha pipe (waterpipe). The active might choose to take a surfing or windsurfing lesson, hire a fishing rod, or just take a long walk on the beach.
