Day 1: Marrakech - Telouet - Ait Ben Haddou - The Gorges of Dades

Depart from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and head towards the Gorges of Dades, passing through the highest road pass in Morocco (2260m), the Tizintichka pass. Stop along the way to take in the breathtaking views.

Visit the Glaoui Kasbah in Telouet, a 19th-century palace built by Thami El Glaoui. Then, continue through the Ounila Valley to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified town built on a promontory to escape foreign invasions.

After lunch, depart for the Gorges of Dades, crossing the Valley of the Roses. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a hotel.

After breakfast, depart for the dunes of Erg Chebbi, passing through the palm grove of Tinghir and the Gorges of Todra. Take a walking tour of the gorges and then continue to Arfoud, where you’ll visit a geological site of fossils.

Lunch will be served en route, and then you’ll continue on a track that extends to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Stop in the village of Khamlia to have tea with a Gnaoua family.

Around 5 pm, climb onto a camel and ride to your bivouac in the middle of the dunes, stopping to watch the sunset. Enjoy dinner and a night under the stars in a Berber tent, with music and entertainment by the nomads.

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast, say farewell to the desert and depart for the Middle Atlas.

Cross the Middle Atlas and enjoy a change of landscape along the way. Stop in Ifrane, a city built during the protectorate in the 1930s, and explore its unique architecture.

Arrive in Fez in the afternoon.

Begin the day early and drive to Meknes, where you’ll take a walking tour of the imperial city. Visit the 18th-century Bab Mansour, the ornamental gate to the city, the bustling souk, and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.

Continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore the ancient city.

Afterwards, depart for Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most interesting cities.
