Day 2: Marrakech - Telouet - Ait Ben Haddou - The Gorges of Dades
Departure in the morning from your hotel or Riad in Marrakech towards the Gorges de Dades, pass by the highest road pass of Morocco (2260 m), the Tizin tichka pass (literally the ‘pasture ‘ in Tamazight) . Stop en route to take pictures. Continuation to Telouet, visit of the Glaoui Kasbah (sometimes also known as the Glaoui Palace), a kasbah built between the 19th century and the 20th century, the most famous of which is probably Thami El Glaoui. Then pass through the valley of Ounila to Ait Ben Haddou. This valley was the obligatory passage of the caravans between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, and constitutes an extraordinary environment. Throughout this valley, a striking contrast between the ocher of the earth and the rocks and the verdure of the plantations is offered to the walkers who take the time to observe it. Visit of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most famous of the Moroccan South, now classified World Heritage by Unesco. This ksar was built a few hundred years ago on a promontory in order to escape the invasions of foreign tribes. You have to go up to the ruined granary to admire the view over the ksar, the palm grove and the surrounding stones desert. This fortified town looks deserted. In fact only a few families still live there). After lunch in a typical restoration on the spot, departure towards the gorges of Dades crossing the Valley of the Roses. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
